About Us
DanSing is aimed at serving the dance community in Singapore by providing a central location online where everyone who is involved in dance can find useful information and resources as well as come together to share and exchange ideas. The website offers a range of practical information and dance-related resources, including directories, a calendar of events and an online forum, to help develop professional practice, deepen interest, and raise the level of awareness and appreciation in dance.
From tips on auditioning to knowledge on management practices to guidelines on choosing a school, DanSing is set up to support everyone in dance, be they young dancers, veterans, organizations, dance groups, schools or businesses, and to enable participation, networking and discussion. Much of the content is contributed by members of the community while established practitioners have volunteered to join the panel of experts.
An initiative of I Dance Central and supported by the National Arts Council, DanSing hopes to be a vital and comprehensive resource for the dance community.

National Arts Council
The National Arts Council (NAC) was set up as a statutory board in September 1991 to spearhead the development of the arts in Singapore.
Anchored on the twin strategies of excellence and engagement in the arts, the Council aims to build a vibrant arts sector by creating a conducive environment where the arts is accessible to all and artistic talents have the necessary resources and capabilities to excel and achieve sustainability in the long term.
NAC focuses on five key strategic thrusts: Nurture and develop the arts; Develop capabilities and resources; Stimulate broader and more sophisticated audience demand; Facilitate internationalization and enhance global connectivity; Advocate the importance of the arts.
To develop artistic talents in the performing, visual and literary arts, the Council provides total support through grants, training, arts housing subsidies, commissioning of works and overseas presentations. It adopts a holistic approach to develop the entire value chain, from seeding arts start-ups, nurturing and developing artists, arts groups and arts businesses, to internationalization.
NAC organizes major festivals, events and competitions to showcase local and international talents, as well as to identify new talents. Arts awards are given to artists in recognition of artistic excellence and to patrons for arts sponsorship.
To build new audiences and broaden arts participation, NAC engages the wider community in the arts through outreach programmes and offers arts education programmes in schools.
The Council helps build capabilities of arts practitioners, professionals and arts business. It plays and active role in cultural exchanges and international platforms. It also plans for the long-term use of arts infrastructure and carries out research and surveys to support advocacy programmes.
The Patron of the Council is the President of Singapore, S R Nathan. The Council’s Board comprises 18 members from the private and public sectors. It is supported by a team of arts advisers and resource panel members who provide feedback and advice.
DanSing wishes to thank all individuals and organisations who made this website a reality.
