Internships at the American Dance Festival 2010

Each summer during its annual season, the American Dance Festival offers internships in all areas of arts administration and production. Administrative internships are intended to give hands-on experience to those interested in a career in arts management while Production interns work on the crew for the 35-plus performances of the ADF season.

All interns work as integral parts of the ADF staff in an invigorating arts environment and play an important role in carrying out the ADF’s mission to serve dance, dancers, choreographers and artists in related fields.

“Working as an intern at the American Dance Festival quickly came to mean more to me than doing my work everyday, attending dance classes with incredible teachers, or watching world-class dance performances.  It became about being a part of a fun, dedicated community who was working together to ensure the success of this great festival.  You’re more than just “the intern” at ADF; you’re a valued, contributing member of the team.  It is for this reason that I left Durham at the end of the summer having learned more and having had experienced more than I could have ever anticipated before coming.  I would do it all again in a second!” –Allison Cohan, 2009 Development Intern
